Hello,
My name is Chris Strolia-Davis. Now don’t get confused, Chris is short for Christopher. My birth name was Christopher Strolia. When I met my one and only life partner, I did not feel there was a good reason for her to have to be the one to give up her last name. She liked the idea, but wanted people to know we were together. So we decided to take each other’s last name and concatenate them with a hyphen, and the fun has not stopped ever since. Having an androgenous first name, many who have never met me assume that I am female. Since I have no middle name, some people believe that Strolia is my middle name. All I can say is, “What an odd middle name.”
I have a strong feeling that the only Strolia-Davis’ on the planet are my wife, son and me.
Anyway, I have been technically oriented for a long time. My early preoccupation with figuring out how things work, has turned into a full time web application development career.
I have often referred to myself as a gadget guy. I really love cool gadgets and small things electronic.
I enjoy keeping up with the latest technologies. I often find myself looking at MIT Technology Review and Wired magazine. I also like Discover, Popular Science and shows like Beyond Tomorrow.
I have often been labeled as a dreamer, and often that was seemingly a bad thing. I am coming to believe that it is just the opposite and as I have pondered this, I have considered many times when it has benefitted me to have this trait.
It seems that the world is beginning to fall more and more into the hands of the dreamers and not the grounded folks, who are staunch advocates of a reality that is beginning to look quite unreal.
Besides these traits, I find myself drawn deeply to God and spirituality. I often ponder the mysteries of God and the universe, and sometimes I come up with theories, understandings and insights that often surprise me and others. Hopefully I will have the courage to share some of these thoughts and understandings here. They are often, off the wall, hence the title of the site “Unusual Thoughts.”
Before I go any further, however, I would like to reserve the right to be wrong. I often come up with some interesting ideas that sometimes seem to have lots of validity. Occasionally, after further thought (or good friends pointing out my stupidity), I will come to a belief or realization that I was either, way off, or at least incomplete in my thoughts. Hey, it’s a big world, and none of us has every angle available to our view. Many people thought the world was flat until they could see it from another perspective. I promise to post any insights I come across that seem to disprove any earlier thoughts.
Thank you for your interest in what’s happening in my life. I hope it will be of value to you.
